Flannels & Velvet

Here I am comin’ at you again with another ‘texture’ piece for today’s post! It has become quite apparent that I wear items that have a texture element to them more often than I realize! Not going to complain about that realization though, because it is something I definitely love to incorporate in everyday attire.

With that being said, today’s texture piece is this velvet tee. If you’re anything like me, there are some items that I can remember from back in high school that were a definite NO-GO and velvet was definitely one of them! haha. But oh how times have changed. Isn’t it crazy that so many items and styles come and go in the fashion world? It’s kind-of like it’s a revolving door and certain items spend a lengthy amount of time ‘in’ and others spend a much shorter time. I know I’ve said this before, but the revolving door of fashion is what I absolutely love about it. I know we all have those pieces that we LOVED 5-6 years ago and maybe it’s not trendy right now, but we hold on to it with that hope that it will be back soon and you can rock it yet again. Or heck, break the rules and rock it anyways! πŸ˜‰

I felt like this velvet tee was a little on the dressier side because of the texture element so I wanted to dress it down a bit. In doing so, I added this flannel, which might I add is the softest thing ever! Next, I added these wide leg denim jeans and lastly, a comfy and cozy beanie. The pieces that stick out the most in this outfit are the velvet tee and wide-leg denim jeans so I made them the focus pieces of this outfit.

So tell me, is velvet something that has made its way into your closet or is it still/always was a NO-GO on your list?! πŸ™‚ I hope you all had a lovely weekend and have the greatest week ahead of you!
